Pub popular with football fans set to reopen as bar and grill

A Sheffield pub popular with Blades fans is to reopen as Bar and Grill.

Previously known as The Barrel Inn, the pub was granted a licence on Monday, February 26th by the council to become ‘D’ahni’s Bar and Grill’.

The pub is located on 123 London Road, a short walk from Bramhall Lane. It was especially popular with fans of Sheffield United, who would often visit the pub after a home game.

However, the licence was met with criticisms after the new owners said they intended to open until 4am on weekends.

An objector quoted in the council report said: “the idea that this is a classy food and wine place that wants to be open until 4am is just laughable.”

They also claimed a pub on the same road named ‘Barry’s’ also causes disruption for local people.

There have been claims of frequent instances of anti-social behaviour in this area.

However, the new owners, UKAL Enterprises Ltd, say they have ensured they are working with the police to limit anti-social behaviour and ensure the pub with the appropriate risk assessments.

The owners also agreed to reduce their opening hours, where they will be open until 1am on weekends.

The pub dates back to around 1882, but was closed permanently in 2022.

The previous owners reflected on their ownership in a Facebook post. They said: “We’ve met some amazing friends and we leave with great memories…we hoped to have made a few more but it wasn’t to be.”

They were flooded with support, with many mourning the loss of their beloved pub.

The pub was recognisable with a red and white colour scheme, but has since been painted green, yellow and black.

Sheffield City Council granted the licence with the agreed conditions, and Councillor David Barker said: “We have to assume you will run this business responsibly.” He also wished the business success to close the meeting.
