A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man was found with fatal stab wounds on Sunday.
Police were contacted by the ambulance service at about 3am after a man was found inside a Barlow Drive property with stab wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, despite efforts from emergency services to revive him.
The force added that a 44-year-old man was later arrested and is currently in custody being questioned.
Det Ch Insp Rebecca Hodgman said: “We realise this will come as a shock to the local community, and I would like to reassure them that we have a team of detectives working at pace to piece together the circumstances of what happened.
“The local neighbourhood policing team will be conducting additional patrols around the area over the coming days.”
Two police cordons were erected on Sunday, on Barlow Drive and Rivelin Valley Road, near the Roscoe Plantation allotments, as police investigations continued.
Officers were seen on Monday afternoon searching the nearby river.
Det Ch Insp Hodgman urged anyone affected or concerned by the incident to contact the team, who are available to help.
She said the family of the man had been informed of the incident and were being supported by specialist officers.
Anyone with information on the incident should call 101 and quote incident number 94 of March 16, 2025.
