Local charity The Sheffield 1000 has surpassed £100,000 of donations ahead of its annual charity brunch, hosted by ambassador and patron Dan Walker.
The charity uses a model that aims to provide an equal amount for all, equally distributing £100,000 across on hundred Sheffield based charities and good causes.
The Sheffield 1000 also uses an accessible model for those who wish to donate, asking for no more than one pound per week per person.
Over the course of the three years since its conception, The Sheffield 1000 has 1,500 weekly donations helping provide money for charities and organisations across the South Yorkshire area.
Announcing the news on social media, broadcaster and charity patron Dan Walker said: “We are so thankful to all our sponsors and supporters and everyone who is a part of The Sheffield 1000. It’s wonderful to be changing lives and helping people in the city we love.”
Worrall Environmental Group, based in the Bradfield area, were the most recent group to benefit from The Sheffield 1000 receiving £1,000 and a special gift from Mr Walker and the chair of trustees.
Worral Environmental Group, who partnered with Bradfield Parish Council late last year, are a voluntary group who strive to improve Worrall’s outdoor areas.
Despite the impressive achievement, the charity aims to further increase the volume of donations they receive.
Mr Walker said: “We are really proud of reaching that £100,000 target but there is so much more we want to do with your help”
On May 9th The Sheffield 1000’s annual charity brunch will be held at the DoubleTree Hilton from 10:30 – noon, hosted by Dan Walker and open to all.
The event aims to spread awareness of the charities it helps as well as showing how the money raised goes to positively impact recipients as well as the communities they are based in.
