A ‘Battle of the Bands’ event showcased the talents of the Sheffield University Big Band and Music Players’ Society last Monday.

The show was held in the Students’ Union’s Foundry and consisted of three acts: FriNJE, the Blues Band, and the University Big Band. 

It was their biggest event of the year, upgrading from their previous smaller pub gigs. 

Ben Ford, 19, member of the Music Players’ Society, led the event in his new role as coordinator. He described it as nerve-wracking, but is excited to see where the society will go in the future.

The students performed a three hour show to a packed audience who were eager to dance and sing along.
