A charity which provides sanctuary for asylum seekers, refugees and community groups across Sheffield is calling on the government to end the ban on work for people seeking asylum in the UK.
City of Sanctuary provides services for people seeking sanctuary throughout the week including, advocacy and system change activism, alongside their ‘Lift the Ban’ campaign project which is led by Melinda Momartinez.
“We have people with so many skill, professional people that are able to contribute to the community, integrate with the community and they want to do that. But (they) have been forced to live in poverty.” said Momartinez.
