Nathaniel Menday has been elected in Woodhouse with almost 2000 votes despite Hope Not Hate, an organisation combatting far right extremism, reporting that he described himself as an ‘ethno-nationalist’.

Revealed by the Times, Mr Menday is also alleged to have said Berlin’s Olympiastadion was built by ‘real visionaries’
The stadium was designed by Albert Speer who was convicted of crimes against humanity at the Nuremberg trials.
According to the article Coun Menday also criticised the Jewish community over policies on open borders.
The local elections took place on 7 May with Reform making great gains, winning over 1200 seats and taking control of ten councils.
The Sheffield Liberal Democrats condemned Mr Menday over his hateful words and called for the Reform party to act.
They have called for Reform UK to withdraw all support for Menday, and commit he will not be granted the whip if elected.
They also have said Menday must acknowledge he cannot represent the people Woodhouse and commit to standing down if he is elected.
When they approached him for comment he apologised for bringing Reform ‘into disrepute’.
The Yorkshire Post also report that Mr Menday asked a fellow Sheffield United fan to add a sun wheel emblem to a flag. The sun wheel has been associated with the far right.
He said he enjoyed, ‘risky humour and pushing boundaries’, and, ‘I have flirted with what could reasonably be referred to as a Far Right ideology but have come to reject its core tenets’.
Mr Menday backtracked on the comments he made, said during The Times interview: ‘I am not anti-Semitic nor do I have Nazi sympathies.’
He added: ‘I have always been motivated by love, not hate.’
The Yorkshire Post spoke to Reform Deputy Leader Richard Tice who defended Mr Menday. He claimed the media were ‘playing gotcha politics’.
Mr Tice went on to say, ‘we’re all human’, in defence of the Woodhouse candidate.
Reform UK, as well as previous members of the party were contacted for comment but did not respond.
