Man charged with murder of Sheffield teenager

A man has been charged with murder as part of the ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old Sheffield dad-of-two.

Jake Brown, 22, from Sheffield, was arrested on 23 February in connection with the murder of Kevin Pokuta.

Brown has since been charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to rob and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Mr Pokuta was shot in the early hours of the morning on 12 December last year on Page Hall Road in Grimesthorpe, Sheffield, before being rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead the next day.

A post mortem examination confirmed Mr Pokuta died as a result of a single gunshot wound.

Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bowell said: “This investigation is complex, and remains ongoing.  We urge anyone, with even the smallest piece of information to come forward – it could make a real difference to the investigation.”

Mr Pokuta leaves his partner and two children aged two years and seven months old.

Brown was due to appear in court today.
