Olympian Jessica Ennis-Hill’s achievements are marked by paving stone in Sheffield.

Sheffield’s Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill’s MOBO award has been honoured with a gold coloured commemorative plaque outside the English Institute of Sport where she trained as a youngster.

The paving stone is engraved with a special inspirational quote from the athlete herself saying ‘The only one who can tell you you can’t win is you, and you don’t have to listen.’

The South Yorkshire sports star said: “To have the MOBO Awards here in Sheffield and then to be awarded this permanent fixture, which is going to live here forever is such an honour.”

The 2012 Olympic heptathlon gold medalist had won the paving the way award at the MOBO awards earlier this month. This award is given to celebrate individuals who are exceptional in their field and paving the way for future generations of talent.

The Sheffield-born athlete said: “I started athletics in this city as a nine-year-old girl. I’m just so proud that other young kids can come to this same facility.”

Jessica Ennis-Hill unveiled the commemorative stone with MOBO founder Kanya King CBE at the entrance to the English Institute of Sport.
