Park Hill café raises money for Medical Aid for Palestinians

South Street Kitchen, an independent café in Sheffield’s Park Hill, is serving a Palestinian menu with all of the profits from the menu donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians.

The menu will be served on on the 1st and 8th of March, and includes the cafe’s own interpretation of different traditional Palestinian dishes, as well as serving their full cocktail, wine and beer menu.

Rob Myers, 33, manager of South Street Kitchen said he thinks it is good for businesses to donate to Palestinian appeals.

He said: “It helps with trade as well as being a good cause. We have definitely seen a spike in bookings this week, people clearly care about the cause.”

The café is mostly Middle Eastern inspired with lots of vegan and gluten free options, and regularly hosts evenings with menus influenced by different cultures’ flavours and dishes.

At the end of last year, South Street Kitchen’s Palestinian evenings raised £780 for Medical Aid for Palestinians, and their Libyan evenings raised £540 for Doctors Without Borders.

In a Facebook post the cafe’s owners said: “It is such a privilege to be able to offer fantastic food to the benefit of a good cause.”
