A new restaurant has opened its second branch in Sheffield today in a popular student hotspot.
Urban Pitta, located at 85 Junction Road, held a fundraiser for The Sheffield Children’s Hospital, in honour of their new location’s launch day.
In order to raise as much money as possible they reduced the price of their pitta from the usual cost of around £6 to just £1.99 between the hours of 12-8 pm, with all proceeds of the day going towards their chosen charity
Michelle, 52, an Urban Pitta employee, said: “It’s been really really busy, we’ve had some great support. People were queuing for three-quarters of an hour when we first started.”
They raised a total of £1498.52 throughout the opening day.
People keen to try out the new venue queued up outside the new shop to take advantage of the offer.
Liv Tutill,19, A student at The University of Sheffield said: ” I’m glad they chose to support the children’s charity I think it’s a really good cause that everyone wants to support”
The staff guided customers through the options on the menu, with a special appearance from Theo the Bear from The Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital.
When asked about the choice of charity Michelle said: “It’s a charity that’s close to everybody’s heart. Every single one of our children have been in the hospital at some point or the other, and it’s a fantastic cause.”
Urban Pitta, who have another store on Chesterfield Road in the city, say they pride themselves on their fresh, natural ingredients.
It’s website says their pittas are made fresh in-house every morning to provide customers with the most enjoyable, authentic and tasty eating experience possible.
Noah Hughes,18, said: “The food here is amazing. I’d rather spend my money here than one of the big chains, you can really taste the quality.”
The restaurant’s menu includes meat options, with grilled steak and chicken as well as vegan options using the renowned vegan meat brand, ‘Beyond Meat’.
Max Morris,20, a student at The University of Sheffield, said: “I love Urban Pitta, I will definitely be eating here more, it’s like subway but better”
