Popular Broomhill pub snapped up by new owners

Broomhill pub The York is set to undergo a big revamp ready for a summer opening.

The True North Brew Co has sold The York in Fulwood Road to the All Points North Pub Co who are promising a new refurbishment for this summer.

All Points North Pub Company is a new joint venture pub company set up by Steve Holt, founder of Leeds-based Kirkstall Brewery and Ed Mason, founder of Five Points Brewing and Whitelock’s Ale House also in Leeds.

Mr Mason said: “We are delighted to be spreading our wings to Sheffield and for The York to be joining our growing portfolio of pubs.

“Kane Yeardley, director of True North Brew Co, and his team have done a great job of establishing The York as a welcoming and popular pub in Broomhill and we look forward to building on their achievements.”

The new ownership will be retaining all front of house and kitchen staff and will continue to operate until a planned revamp in the summer.

All Points North are also responsible for Whitelock’s Ale House, the oldest pub in Leeds.

The company took over the pub in 2012 and has worked hard to restore the pub to its place as first choice among discerning pub goers, championing local breweries, food suppliers, and a wide range of events.

Kane Yeardley, director of True North Brew, which also runs more than a dozen venues across South Yorkshire, said: “We are thrilled to be handing over the ropes to All Points North Pub Company. The York has a very special place in our hearts and we’re confident they will do a fantastic job. Welcome to the Sheffield Pub scene.”
