Sheffield’s biggest food celebration run by Swans Events returns to the city centre in May.
The free to attend Sheffield Food Festival will take place in the Peace Gardens, Town Hall Square, Millennium Gardens and surrounding areas on Saturday 25th May to Monday 27th May.
Since 2017, the festival has attracted thousands of people to celebrate food and drink, sourced from one of the 50 locally based traders involved.
There will also be an artisan market, offering people the opportunity to exhibit their artistic creations and talent.
The festival has just been awarded a music fund from the Arts Council England.
Noemi Antonelli, Managing Director at Swans Events, said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded the grassroots music funding from Arts Council England and are excited to offer young people and emerging talent a platform at the festival, as well as celebrating our proud city’s heritage and diverse cuisine.
“We want to showcase Sheffield’s relationship with food through an exciting programme that continues to play an integral part in putting this city on the culinary map.”
There are a number of vendors returning this year, including Tamarind Kitchen, Paradiso, V or V Grill House, Doughboy, Scrumptious by Lucy and Locksley Distilling.
Sheffield-based premium ice cream company Yee Kwan, who have previously won Great Taste Awards for their flavours including Hong Kong milk tea, chocolate miso and toasted coconut, will also be at the event.
Yee, from Yee Kwan, said she is proud to be a part of the festival as they have been a “part of it from the beginning”.
Councillor Martin Smith, Chair of the Economic Development and Skills Policy Committee at Sheffield City Council, said: “Sheffield has so much to offer in the way of great food, places to eat and drink. The city has recently been recognised for this, a good deal of which is down to the success of the Sheffield Food Festival.
“As well as attracting thousands of visitors, the event is a fantastic opportunity for local traders to sell their produce and it’s great to see these independent businesses come together and be part of such a dynamic and popular date in our city’s event programme.”
