Sheffield citizen raises over £1.1K to skydive for local Sheffield Charity The Snowdrop Project

A Sheffield daredevil has raised more than £1,000 by taking part in a skydive to raise money for a charity which helps survivors of modern slavery and exploitation.

The skydive will take place on Saturday the 23rd of March 2024 at Hibaldstow Airfield in North Lincolnshire. It is organised by a group of people from a Sheffield based company Integra Quality.

Aidan Melville, who is 38 years old and a communication manager for Migration Yorkshire is one of the participants taking part in this fundraiser for The Snowdrop Project.

He hopes his skydive will raise the profile of The Snowdrop Project and encourage other people to support them as a charity.

He said: “ I’m proud to be able to support them. Snowdrop is a charity that I’m quite passionate about. It really is helping to make a difference in people’s lives who have been through trauma I cannot begin to imagine.”

The Snowdrop Project provides a holistic support package for survivors of modern slavery and exploitation in South Yorkshire to help them recover from their experiences and rebuild their lives.

Support is happily provided free of charge, and survivors can access support as frequently, and for as long, as they need it.

Last year, The Snowdrop Project supported 274 adults and 119 children in Sheffield and surrounding areas on their journeys towards recovery.

Rosie Brent-Turner, Donor relations and communications manager at The Snowdrop Project said : “This is the most people we’ve ever supported in one year. Our goal for this year is to reach as many survivors as possible, in order to ensure that they have everything they need to rebuild their lives.”

Rosie Brent-Turner added: “ As a charity, we rely entirely on donations to fund the work we do. All donations, regardless of size, really do add up and make a difference.”
