Following the McDonald’s worldwide IT crisis that prevented millions from enjoying their morning McMuffins, the people of Sheffield have shared their thoughts on the fast food industry.
Many furious customers took to social media to criticise their local McDonalds stores for being unable to take orders, and even closing abruptly. McDonalds confirmed that there was a ‘technology outage’ but the issue has since been resolved.
Despite this issue, customers said they generally feel that the efficiency of fast food is improving.
Rafi, 20, said service is ‘a lot more efficient’ due to the introduction of self service kiosks and app orders.
However, Bertie, 27, said: “There is a lack of manpower and control in the kitchens as food is taking longer to prepare.”
Due to crippling bills and extortionate food prices, people are eating fast foods less and less. Georgia, 27, said: ‘It’s ridiculous. Prices have shot up massively. It’s cheaper to make food at home.”
Last week, American TikTok Freddie Smith slammed the prices of McDonalds, calling the restaurant a ‘luxury’ due to ‘ridiculous’ food prices in a video that has been viewed more than 3 million times.
However, despite the increase in prices, Maia, 20, feels that ‘food quality has gone down’ which makes the fast food option even less alluring for her.
In a statement McDonalds said: ‘We are aware of a technology outage which impacted our restaurants.
“The issue has now been resolved in the UK and Ireland. We thank customers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. The issue is not related to a cybersecurity event.”
