A woman has appealed for help after her partner’s car wheels were stolen and the vehicle was left sitting on bricks.
On Wednesday 17 April, between midnight and 12.20 am the wheels were stolen off of a car directly outside her partners house.
Witnesses described seeing two people run away towards Compton Street and Bolehills Road. They were aged roughly 17 to 19 years old.
Caitlin Rimmer of Walkley Road, who’s partner Sam Cosh owned the car, said: “Me and my partner both didn’t sleep after the incident as we were afraid they would come back and take either more from the car or come into the house.
“The police haven’t really provided any support. We have definitely done more ourselves than the police have.”
Caitlin said the police told her they were unable to get fingerprints after the incident.
In the absence of police support, Caitlin and her partner Sam have been out putting notes on peoples cars and talking to people, however still only have limited information.
Caitlin said: “I get that the chances of finding the wheels are very very slim, but the cost to us has been pretty extensive.”
The theft was carried out using the jack out of the vehicle, however that was left behind.
Miss Rimmer added: “We were also told that the people who took them had either done it as a very spur of the moment thing or they had been watching us in our house and what times ew went to sleep for a few days.
“It has made us all quite anxious about people hanging around in the street.”
South Yorkshire police said: “We were called on 17 April at 12.33am to Walkey Road in Sheffield to reports of a theft from a motor vehicle. It is reported that a car window was broken and alloy wheels were removed from a VW Golf parked on Walkey Road.”
Anyone with any information should call the South Yorkshire Police quoting crime number 231704.
