A celebration of beer kicks off tomorrow at Trafalgar Warehouse as a warm up for Sheffield Beer Week.
The Sheffield Beer Feast will be held on Friday 7 March and Saturday 8 March at the venue in Trafalgar Street, and will celebrate independent craft beer.
Jules Gray, the event organiser for both Sheffield Beer Week and Sheffield Indie Beer Festival said: “Sheffield Beer Week is a great annual celebration.
“It’s a moment to show some recognition and showcase the excellent craft beer scene here in the city.”
Trafalgar Warehouse is a 1930s restored industrial building close to the city centre; they have held the event there for 3 years now.
Over the weekend there are two sessions throughout the days, one starting in the mornings 11.30am to 4.30pm and one in the evenings from 5.30pm to 10.30pm. Saturday morning’s session has already been sold out.
The celebration will include tastings in the courtyard and inside the warehouse, brewery bars where you can find a selection of drinks such as fine cider and natural wine, street food will be available for purchase.
The event has been a popular part of the Sheffield Beer Week celebrations for many years despite a hiatus of in-person events due to the pandemic.
In 2021 the event was organised in the form of a virtual Instagram live tasting and when the organisers tried to rearrange a summer festival due to the pandemic they had to cancel the weekend.
Organisers said their ethos for holding The Feast is to support independent breweries as Sheffield is known to be one of the best cities nationally for independent breweries
A University Of Sheffield study ‘Sheffield: The beer city 2024’ showed that Sheffield produces roughly 780 different beers a year – that’s 2.2 individual beers each day – and in 2016 the university found 73% of Sheffield beer is sold locally (within Sheffield City Region)
