A pedestrian was struck by a car on Glossop Road in Sheffield late on Friday.
South Yorkshire Police and Ambulance services were dispatched to the intersection of Glossop Road and Wilkinson Street after receiving an emergency call from a member of the public at 7:36pm on February 28,
Ken Jarvis, landlord of the Doctors Orders, witnessed the aftermath of the incident. He went outside after seeing the blue lights from the pub’s window.
He claims, “He was laying down a while, a good fifteen minutes…with no change.”
The pedestrian received specialist paramedic treatment in an ambulance at the scene.
South Yorkshire Ambulance services confirmed that they were transported to Northern General Hospital for further treatment. There are no updates regarding their condition.
A resident of Glossop Road, who also heard the incident, said the road was “horrific”
She said: “I’ve lived here since September, this intersection is horrific. Crossing is horrific, I’m constantly trying. There’s no traffic lights to cross or anything.”
Carl Ale, a security guard at the Co-Op opposite the accident, said: “It’s a very dangerous intersection.”
Mr Ale has worked at the Co-Op for five years, and claimed accidents don’t seem to happen often.
No statement is available from South Yorkshire Police at this time.
A spokesperson for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: ‘We received an emergency call at 7.36pm on Friday 28 February to report a collision between a car and pedestrian on Glossop Road, Sheffield. An ambulance and specialist paramedic (critical care) were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Northern General Hospital.’
