Twenty-Two offenders were identified by officers due to disorder at last year’s Sheffield Derby ahead of the teams’ next match on Sunday.
All the individuals have also been excluded from attending football fixtures by Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, police said.
Two of fans have received court-imposed football banning orders. South Yorkshire police have said that failure to comply with the requirements can lead to imprisonment of up to six months and a fine of up to £5,000.
Chief Superintendent Cherie Buttle said: “As a force we do not tolerate any kind of disorder weather this is at a football match or elsewhere.”
The fixture between Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday November 10 saw an outbreak of public disorder at Bramall Lane football ground, as fans were entering the grounds before the match started.
Anti social behaviour broke out both before and after the match. It is alleged that missiles, including cans, were thrown, according to South Yorkshire police.
Ch Supt Buttle added: “We work very closely with all of our local football clubs to ensure that anti-social behaviour or violence is dealt with effectively and efficiently.
“Issuing banning orders enables us to deal with those who persistently cause issues or commit football related offences.”
The match on Sunday 16 will take place at Hillsborough stadium, home to Sheffield Wednesday.
Ch Supt Buttle said: “We are continuing to work with Sheffield City Council to ensure that our residents, and anyone visiting Sheffield, has a safe and enjoyable day. ”
“Our officers will be around the city, and if you have any questions or concerns, they are there to help so please do stop and speak to them.”
