
Sheffield will “turn green” on Monday as pubs and clubs brace for St Patrick’s day.
St Patrick’s day, celebrated on March 17, is an Irish holiday which is celebrated internationally by millions wearing green, drinking Guinness and appreciating Irish culture.
It commemorates the anniversary of the death of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.
Sheffield is home to around 3,000 Irish citizens and therefore has a duty to put on a great display to celebrate this historic day.
Pheobe Haley, who works for the Four Leaf Irish Pub, said: “Students can enjoy amazing live music all weekend long, creating the perfect vibe to hangout with friends.

Molly Malones, an Irish Tavern located on West street, is hosting it’s Paddy’s North vs. Midlands vs. South Bar Crawl – SHEFFIELD.
Katie Obrien’s will be hosting a four-day celebration starting tomorrow, promising ‘plenty of Guinness’ and ‘live music’.
The Leadmill will be celebrating early, by throwing a St Patrick’s day party on its ‘Ultimate student Friday’ on 14 March.
Corporation will be turning its regular Corporation Monday into an Irish celebration.
St Patrick’s day is not a day just about drinking, with many also celebrating the religious Irish culture.
Charlie Gell, a University of Sheffield Student who has Irish roots, said: “St Patrick’s day is not just a celebration of Irish culture and alcohol but it’s also a religious day so it’ll be a trip to the church and an evening in the pub for me.
“I hope to see Sheffield turn green, which would mean so much to my Irish Grandmother.”
