Watch: Sheffield pub landlord calls on the public to ‘support your locals’

The landlord of a Sheffield pub that has seen eight different managers in the past year alone has spoken out about the struggles he is facing to keep the pub open.

Ken Jarvis, 61, took over the Doctor’s Orders pub in November last year as a last effort from the company Heineken to turn the pub around.

He told SheffLive about the different challenges the pub is facing.

The lack of community and local customers due to buildings being turned into student accommodation, the change in people’s lifestyle, the cost of utilities, and a new ‘binge drinking’ culture are some of the points he raises.

Mr Jarvis encourages people to support their local pubs and to help keep them open.
