The Blades celebrated victory over their fierce rivals in the Steel City derby by holding a shirt aloft, dedicated to their former teammate.
Sheffield United boss, Chris Wilder said: “We recognise him and he is not forgotten.
“We have his shirt up in every home game and every away game and he is there with us… We wish he was still here.”
Both the players and staff held the shirt up in front of the travelling away fans after securing a narrow one-nil victory at Hillsborough, United’s first league double over their city rivals since 2005-06.
The game had the typical fan trouble that you would expect from a Steel City derby, with Wednesday fans throwing a firework onto the pitch aimed at the United players after they opened the scoring.
But Wilder made sure, amongst the jubilation at full-time, that it was important to remember a once fan favourite at Brammall Lane.
Wilder said: “He would have loved today, it would have been right down his street.”
Baldock was found dead in the swimming pool of his house in Glyfada, southern Athens on 9 October last year.
Initial coroner’s findings suggested he drowned and police said they had ruled out any criminal activity but the exact cause of death is still yet to be confirmed. Police attempted to resuscitate Baldock at the scene but he could not be revived and medical emergency units confirmed his death.
The England-born Greece international spent seven seasons with the Blades and twice helped them win promotion to the Premier League before leaving for Panathinaikos last summer.
He made 219 appearances in all competitions for the club, helping them to promotion to the Premier League in 2019 and again in 2023.
