Art fair showcases Sheffield’s creativity

An art fair featuring paintings, pottery, crochet creations, jewellery and more will take place at the Brother’s Arms pub on Well Road in Heeley on Saturday 29 March.

The event – called Alfonzo’s Art Fair – aims to immerse visitors in a world of creativity as the works of 15 talented artists will showcase original works.

The co-ordinator and manager of the fair, Alfie Taylor said: “The fair includes artists of different stages, whether they are professional or if they are doing it for fun,

“We have done a few before and they are always really good days,

“I dabble in different kinds of art myself,

“It is nice to give artists who haven’t done anything before a platform as it gives them a bit of a push,

“It gives people a bit more confidence as it gives them an opportunity.”

The fair is for every artist as the vendors are not charged and pay what they can to showcase their art.

A previous fair organized by Alfie took place in November and had a Christmas run at the Sidney and Matilda warehouse in the city centre.

The previous showcase raised money for The Little Princess Trust as Archie shaved his head. The charity provides free real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair through illness or other conditions.

This fair will raise money for Mind which is a charity that is dedicated to supporting mental health. Their goal is to ensure that anyone facing mental health challenges receives the help and respect they deserve.

Alfie said: “If you do not struggle with your mental health, you are going to know someone who does,

“It is something that affects us all,

“It is a very good cause.”

The fair will also feature music and have performances from up-and-coming DJs.

There will be food and drinks, including the Brothers Arms’ renowned selection of beers.

The traditional pub has a beer garden and outdoor seating.

The fair is for anyone, and everyone is welcome to attend to celebrate the arts.
