Thousands of tourists set to gather in the “foodie capital” of the UK for Sheffield Food Festival

After being crowned the UK’s foodie capital by global hospitality giant Accor in March 2025, Sheffield is gearing up for it’s biggest culinary celebration of the year.

The Sheffield Food Festival is set to return during the late May Bank Holiday from Saturday 24th to Monday 26th May, to celebrate the city’s best food, drinks and music.

The festival is one of Sheffield’s largest free events, drawing crowds of over 50,000 people.

More than 60 local food and drink traders will take part, most of whom based locally, offering everything from international street food to artisan produce.

This years celebrations will take place across the city, in the Peace Gardens, Kingston Street and both Millennium and Town Hall Squares.

Entertainment for all will ensure the festival is even “bigger and better” than previous years, with fairground rides, craft workshops, various music tents, stages and bar areas satisfying all age groups.

Sheffield Music School, Yorkshire Sound Women Network, Slambarz and Creative DJ School will be filling the “Busking Tent”, with many more musicians to be announced.

Sheffield received the UK Foodie Hotspot 2023 title from The Observer Food Monthly, and was named the 2nd best City Break destination in Europe for 2023, by TimeOut. The Guardian also noted Sheffield in their favourite food spots.

This stream of accolades reflects Sheffield’s growing national and international reputation as a culinary hotspot, with the Sheffield Food Festival at its heart.

Noemi Antonelli, Managing Director at Swans Events said the exciting programme this year will “play an integral part in putting this city on the culinary map.”

Councillor Martin Smith, Chair of the Economic Development and Skills Policy Committee at the Sheffield City Council said: “We are excited to welcome Swans Events on board as the new organiser of Sheffield’s popular food festival. The event continues to grow and thrive each year and we are looking forward to them bringing exciting new ideas and creative elements to build on the past successes.”

The organisers of Sheffield Food Festival said: “Our aim for 2025 is to put the city at the fore-front of the festival, with a community-led entertainment programme including family activities and new, emerging artists.”

Cllr Martin Smith added: “the event is a fantastic opportunity for local traders to sell their produce.”
