Foundry and Bar One nominated for Best Bar None People’s Choice 2026 award

Best Bar None Sheffield has nominated the University of Sheffield Students’ Union’s club ‘The Foundry’ for Best Nightclub, and their ‘Bar One’ for Best Bar/Late Bar in their People’s Choice Awards 2026.

Bar One and Foundry have a reputation amongst university students for affordability, safety, and high-energy atmospheres, as well as their proximity to the University of Sheffield campus.

Jowana, 19, a student at the University of Sheffield studying astrophysics, said regarding Bar One: “I always come here after lectures” due to its location being near lecture buildings, and she said: “The food here is so amazing and cheap as there is a 20% discount for students.”

This year, there will be an awards dinner at Sheffield City Hall on April 28th, with an after-party at BOX. Other awards include Best Entertainment Venue, Best Pub, and Best Restaurant, with 56 accredited venues throughout the Best Bar None scheme. The awards scheme is open to establishments within the Sheffield city centre ring road.

Aniela, 20, a psychology student at the University of Sheffield, said: “Poptarts is my favourite night ever, not just in Sheffield,” which is why Foundry should win Best Nightclub. This is because of its security measures put in place to keep students safe, as she said: “You get to queue inside, which is very calm compared to other clubs.”

Last year, Corporation won its nomination for Best Nightclub & Independent, with the Foundry as its runner-up, and Forum claimed its award for Best Bar/Late Bar. The ceremony was held on February 25th at Sheffield City Hall.

A politics student at the University of Sheffield, 19, said: “Bar One is a great place to relax with friends, or to hang around before Foundry.”

They also stated: “Poptarts themed nights top any other club nights” on Saturdays.

As a student-only event, students applaud the Foundry’s safe atmosphere at Poptarts and ROAR, and Bar One’s official pre-bar gives the same buzz before clubbing, with a level of spontaneity as tickets are available from the bar on student nights.

Votes can be cast until 23:59 on Friday, 13th March. For more information or to vote, you can visit Best Bar None’s website.
