A well-loved Sheffield pub has called on the community to help it collect easter eggs for youngsters in the city’s nearby children’s hospital.

The Fox and Duck on Fulwood Road has organised a chocolate Easter egg appeal to support the patients of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and is urging the surrounding community to donate a small treat to help spread the easter joy this spring.

Pub staff are aiming to collect as many chocolate eggs as possible by Good Friday, 3 April, before they deliver them to the young patients currently being treated there.

Alex Dallas-Brown, 31, manager of the alehouse, said: “We are mainly hoping to put a smile on the faces of the parents and the children themselves.

“It’s important to show them that people in their community do care for them and that there is support for them.”

This year marks the first year that the pub is running the Easter appeal but comes off the back of them raising over £10,000 for various charities, throughout different events, across the course of 2025.

They are focused on supporting causes that are directly close to the business within the south-west area of Sheffield.

Mr Dallas-Brown said: “I drive past the hospital every single morning, its close by and it’s important that we support those who are around us.

“People want to support things that are close to them, they see where their effort is going and it is nice to be nice.”

All the staff at the alehouse will be dressing up as Oompa Loompas, with the manager dressing as Willy Wonka, to celebrate the success of their appeal and to deliver the eggs to the hospital.

The staff have decided to let the hospital share the eggs across all wards as they see fit.

All donations of Easter eggs should be taken into the pub, which is on Fulwood Road, at any time during opening hours and handed over at the bar to any member of staff.

Other businesses in the area have reached out to show their support for the pub’s appeal including Saffron and Berry Laser Clinic and Skincare.

The Fox and Duck management get themselves involved in as many charity events as they can and see it as being an essential part of their business, according to Mr Dallas-Brown.

Other events they have taken part in include Movember and the Craft Community Stomp – a charity event organised by their parent company.

They are also well-known for supporting the student community within their area as they sponsor various University of Sheffield societies such as Medics Netball and UoS History Rugby FC.

Any further questions about donating chocolate Easter eggs can be made through calling 0121 272 5499 or dropping into the pub during their opening hours.
