An adult cat at The Sheffield Cat Shelter is in desperate need of a home after he struggles to fit into the shelter environment.
Ned, an adult cat, has been struggling with fitting into the indoor environment at the shelter since he was taken in. Staff at the shelter are desperate to find him a home as soon as possible.
He has always been an outdoor cat and will need owners who can accommodate him. He would be happy as a garden cat settling into a garage, shed or outdoor house equivalent.
Rebecca Hollingworth, the Welfare Manager at the Sheffield Cat Shelter said, “Ned could do with a shout as he is what we call an ‘inbetweener’ cat and they are generally harder to find homes for.”
Inbetweener cats often require low interaction care as they fear close human contact but rely on humans for food and shelter.
Ned could live in a quiet home as long as he has a cat flap to enter and leave the house as he pleases with no pressure to interact from owners.
He would also make a great working cat either on a farm, church grounds or garden centre.
The shelter has worked hard to assist new cat owners when adopting from their shelter. In their post adoption follow up they check in on the adopters and their new furry family member on day 3, day 7, day 21 and month 3 to ensure that everything is as expected and going well.
Rebecca said, “Our adopters seem to find this reassuring and hopefully feel like they are important to the Sheffield Cat Shelter Family, and that the support doesn’t stop when you walk out of the door.”

The Sheffield Cat Shelter is located in Broomhall and has expanded to having three charity shops in the areas of Sharrow, Crookes and Hillsborough.
The shelter is one of the UK’s longest standing cat shelters and the longest in Sheffield standing at 128 years.
