EXCLUSIVE: Double break in Broomhill – shopworker “lost for words”

A shop-worker has spoken of her shock after arriving at work this morning to find the window smashed in and her premises ransacked.

Yorkshire Fonefix and Vapes, Whitham Road, was broken into around 4am this morning, along with the empty retail unit next door.

A phone and vape device has been taken, along with phone related accessories.

Laxmi Subedi, 27, said: “They tried to break in from next door, but weren’t able to so they smashed the front window. Luckily we do have CCTV. When I came in at 8am this morning I saw the police van. I wasn’t really thinking, I was just shocked. There are no words, it is a painful moment now.”

Sam Ogletimson, owner of Cool Stuff Vintage and Trixie’s Pantry, opposite to the empty shop said : “The lease has only been agreed for a couple of weeks. The police were here when I came in at 10am

“The last break-in I can remember is a couple of months ago on Glossop Road, otherwise it’s rare to happen here”

A South Yorkshire Police Spokesperson said: “At 4.26am today (Tuesday 17 March), officers responded to reports of a break in at a property on Whitlam Road in Sheffield. It is alleged that suspects gained entry to the shop and fled the scene after being disturbed.A dog handler attended the scene and quickly arrested two men, aged 21 and 24, on suspicion of burglary. Response officers further arrested a third man, aged 26, on suspicion of burglary. All men remain in police custody.”
