A Strictly Come Dancing star has praised the \u201cphenomenal\u201d talent of University of Sheffield dancers, revealing she was \u201cabsolutely blown away\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The University of Sheffield Dance Society competition team competed at their final competition of the season over the weekend and performed at the largest UK university dance competition.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last weekend wrapped up the season for the Sheffield dancers, performing at Loughborough university in front of judges Karen Hauer, Strictly Come Dancing professional,  Jodie Steele, West End star, Matthew Ball, Principle of the Royal Ballet along with many others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students from the university have created performances in a range of styles themselves and left the judges at all three competitions amazed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karen Hauer, said: \u201cI didn\u2019t know what to expect because it was my first time here and the talent and level of it is just phenomenal\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just relentless and the fearlessness which excites me so much for the future for all these dancers so I’m absolutely blown away.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheffield has competed at the University of York and Loughborough University as well as hosting their own competition at the end of february, and one of the big highlights for a lot of the dancers is having the opportunity to perform on stage and for professional dancers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leah Brewer, 20, Choreographer and dancer for the University of Sheffield, said: “Being able to dance and perform in front of big names is amazing and it pushes all of us to work harder as a team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The University of Sheffield left the season with great achievements including, placing 1st in the latin section at Loughborough, the intermediate contemporary team coming 2nd at York, along with the advanced tap team placing 3rd in both the York and Sheffield competitions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rachel Ellis, 22, Sheffield Dance Society\u2019s competition Sec, Said: \u201cSeeing everyone grow in confidence within their routines throughout the competition season has been a real highlight.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Izzy Lalli, 21, Sheffield Dance Society\u2019s competition Sec, Said: \u201cBeing able to see all the work the team put in over the past 8 months pay off has been a highlight for me as comp sec this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
