{"id":172,"date":"2024-03-13T16:47:15","date_gmt":"2024-03-13T16:47:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/?p=172"},"modified":"2024-03-13T18:21:44","modified_gmt":"2024-03-13T18:21:44","slug":"sheffield-wednesday-fans-calling-for-chansiri-to-sell-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/03\/13\/sheffield-wednesday-fans-calling-for-chansiri-to-sell-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield Wednesday fans call for Chansiri to sell up"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The 1867 Group of Sheffield Wednesday fans have set up a fundraiser to support the end of Dejphon Chansiri\u2019s&nbsp;controversial nine year ownership.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The GoFundMe page, which has raised over \u00a32,300, is being used in protests against the Thai owner, who has previously claimed in a club statement that he will put no more additional money into the club.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ahead of the fixture against Plymouth last Tuesday, a promo-van funded by the 1867 Group listed the controversies of Chansiri\u2019s nine year ownership, including the slogan \u2018Back the team, not the regime\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8 \ud83d\udfe8\ud83d\udea8\ud83d\udfe8<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YFTlFbXeyu\">https:\/\/t.co\/YFTlFbXeyu<\/a><br><br>Our protest against Birmingham City demonstrated the widespread discontent amongst the fanbase, toward the club ownership of Dejphon Chansiri. <br><br>We\u2019d suggest the fact that the views of the supporters hasn\u2019t even been acknowledged by the club,\u2026<\/p>&mdash; The 1867 Group. (@The1867Group) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/The1867Group\/status\/1758553537959637033?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 16, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A fan of Wednesday, who wished to remain anonymous due to the club&#8217;s volatile state, said: \u201cHis ego is ruining our club, the branding of his name around the ground (Hillsborough), and the pointless changing of our badge is ruining the history of our club\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe increase in ticket prices is a joke, it&#8217;s outpricing loyal fans who turn out to watch their team every week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Regarding the failure from Chansiri to sell the club, another anonymous fan said \u201cI think it shows stubbornness to not sell the club even with the protests, and to lie that if the fans wanted him to go, he would &#8211; it\u2019s false promise after false promise really.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group held further protests at the 2-0 loss against Leeds United last week, handing out flyers further condemning Chansiri and pleading for him to sell the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Owls have been in fine form as of late, picking up five wins in their last seven in the fight for Championship survival.
