She said : \u201cThere\u2019s a growing movement for cleaning up our environment, but in my opinion we\u2019re just going around in circles if we don\u2019t tackle the root cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Litter picking groups across the city agreed that the sheer scale of the problem can be quite overwhelming with hundreds of tons of trash created on a weekly basis across Sheffield.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"988\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_6544-988x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-291\" style=\"width:822px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_6544-980x1016.jpg 980w, https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_6544-480x497.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 988px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Geoff Wilson, a member of the Fox Hill Litter Picking Group<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geoff Wilson, 64, from Fox Hill, who has been a part of the Fox Hill Litter Picking Group for more than three years, said: \u201cI had never seen anyone litter pick before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI decided to pick up litter a few times and then got into a routine. I realised that actually an hour and a half every now and again on a Saturday morning would make you think that you are doing something worth the while.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Fox Hill Litter Picking Group have been around for roughly eight years and have tackled many areas in Sheffield. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Wilson added: \u201cOne time someone stopped their car and said it was nice to see that people are taking care of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent years, the importance of litter picking has gained a lot of attention within the local area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;From a personal point of view you feel appreciated, you know, it\u2019s therapeutic and helps with your mental health.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"790\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_3984-790x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-298\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malcolm Camp, 50, who lives in Burngreave, and works for the Green City Action Group has been litter picking for 20 plus years on and off.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1022\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_3979-1022x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_3979-1022x1024.jpg 1022w, https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_3979-980x982.jpg 980w, https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_3979-480x481.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1022px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Malcolm Camp, a member of the Sheffield Litter Picking Group<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said: \u201cIf I had any advice to give I would tell everyone to download the Fix My Street App which stores all reports on anything in the local area and goes straight to the correct council people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He continued: \u201cFor example potholes, requesting more bins, accidents or overflowing bins.
