{"id":49960,"date":"2024-03-06T17:05:38","date_gmt":"2024-03-06T17:05:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sheflive.co.uk\/?p=49960"},"modified":"2024-03-06T17:05:38","modified_gmt":"2024-03-06T17:05:38","slug":"sheffields-tramlines-festival-to-go-ahead-despite-last-years-washout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/03\/06\/sheffields-tramlines-festival-to-go-ahead-despite-last-years-washout\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield&#8217;s Tramlines Festival to go ahead despite last year&#8217;s washout"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tramlines, a popular festival hosted in Sheffield, has been licensed permission to host in Hillsborough Park by the charity the City Council&#8217;s Trustee Sub-Committee for 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tramlines Festival is one of the UK\u2019s longest-running, city-based music festivals, hosted in Sheffield since its first festival in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival has taken place in Hillsborough Park since 2018 after the original premises licence was granted to Tramlines Event Limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, last year\u2019s Tramline event led to the discussion of whether Tramlines should still be granted permission to be located in Hillsborough Park this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, the festival was described as a \u2018mud bath\u2019 due to heavy rainfall and &#8216;adverse weather&#8217; during the events&#8217; weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was reported that \u2018extra groundwork repairs\u2019 were needed to help restore Hillsborough Park after the weekend was finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This led to a comprehensive review of whether the Charity Trustee Sub-Committee should allow the festival to be hosted in the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The review took place on the 4th of March which resulted in an agreement granting approval for a revised licence agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This included a fee scheduled for the next five events in Hillsborough Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Ian Auckland, Chair of the Charity Trustee Sub-Committee at Sheffield City Council, said: \u201cIt is crucial that we protect our parks and it\u2019s great to see that we have revised our licence agreement to reflect this\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added: \u201cTramlines Festival bring enormous benefits to the city and is enjoyed and celebrated by many.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the agreement, \u00a310,000 of the annual fee for Tramlines will be used to improve, replace, or install equipment or facilities to advance the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The licence agreement has stated to \u2018provide protection for the Hillsborough Park Charity\u2019 and to \u2018consider the best interest of the park\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gary Clifton, Major Events Manager at Sheffield City Council, said that hosting Tramlines at Hillsborough Park will \u2018represent a positive benefit for the park\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gary Clifton added: &#8220;Events like Tramlines builds Sheffield&#8217;s brand and reputation.&#8221; and &#8220;is a highlight in Sheffield&#8217;s calendar events.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the review rejected Tramlines to be hosted in Hillsborough Park, it would have been suggested to move the Tramlines festival to a different city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tramlines Festival states it is \u2018proud to call Hillsborough Park our home\u2019 after hosting there for the past 6 years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tramlines, a popular festival hosted in Sheffield, has been licensed permission to host in Hillsborough Park by the charity the City Council&#8217;s Trustee Sub-Committee for 2024.
