A man will run a marathon to raise funds for Sheffield children\u2019s hospital<\/a> after they saved the life of his colleague\u2019s six-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man, 22-year-old Kieran Robinson, is an apprentice plumber based in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. In his last job, he worked with Karl Maw, who told him that his daughter Evie had been diagnosed with a brain tumour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 12 November, 2023, she was admitted to Sheffield\u2019s children\u2019s hospital as she was unable to move her head and was struggling to walk. After multiple operations, doctors were able to remove the majority of her brain tumour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Robinson said: \u201cAfter finding this out my natural instinct was that I needed to make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To commend the efforts of the medical staff in saving Evie\u2019s life, Mr Robinson has decided to run a marathon in her name to raise money for the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The marathon will take place in Leeds on 16 June, 2024. After the marathon is over, Mr Robinson will get a cheque of the total money collected and go into ward 5 of Sheffield children\u2019s hospital and hand it over to the staff there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He hopes the marathon will \u2018catch\u2019 many peoples\u2019 eyes and raise awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Robinson added: \u201cNo person, never mind a young six-year-old girl should have to go through this pain that Evie is currently having to battle.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kieran competes in amateur boxing four days a week, which he believes is a massive help to his marathon training. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A page on the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe<\/a> has been set up to raise money for the marathon and so far \u00a3120 has been raised, smashing the target of \u00a3100. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Robinson said: \u201cAll money that is donated is massively appreciated and will go a long way so no other child has to go through this devastating journey that Evie is having to battle on a day to day basis.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He had previously raised \u00a34035 to donate to Sheffield children\u2019s hospital by organising raffles with the local football team, Scunthorpe United<\/a>, raffling off football shirts, cards and collection items at the games.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
