This would have seen it having different prices for parking to other city parks.

Increasing the parking charges on charitable park sites in line with non charitable sites will in turn provide a higher level of income to those charitable parks, council officers argued.

This income provides some income certainty for the Endcliffe Park Charity, the Graves Park Charity and the Hillsborough Park Charity and considers the best interests of each of the parks.

Isabella Wright, 19, a student at the University of Sheffield said: “As a student it’s quite annoying that the parking charge has risen, it’s kind of hindered me from parking at these places, especially Endcliffe Park.

“On a day to day basis, I normally walk to my lectures anyways so it doesn’t really affect me too badly because I have way around it, thankfully.”

The parking fees for pay-and-display in the City Centre car parks are £1.45 per hour in Zone 1 areas from Monday to Sunday -4:30pm to 8:30pm.

On Sundays the parking fees are £1 per hour in Zone 2 areas from 4:30pm to 8:30pm.

Parking fees will rise by 10p per hour at Endcliffe Park, Graves Park and Hillsborough park in coming days, it has been confirmed.
