A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after allegedly injuring two adults and a child at a Sheffield school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police were called to reports of an incident involving a sharp object at Birley Academy at around 8.50am yesterday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two women in their 20s and a child suffered minor injuries as a result of this incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dan Thorpe, Assistant Chief Constable of South Yorkshire police, said: \u201cTwo adults and one child suffered minor injuries and were checked over at the scene by colleagues from Yorkshire ambulance service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMinutes within the initial call we had arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains in police custody.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two women both suffered minor injuries, one from a sharp object which was thought to be broken glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The child was assaulted but received no physical injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elaine Gibson, Press Officer at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said: \u201cA number of patients were checked over on the scene and did not need to be conveyed to hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The school went into lockdown following the incident but headteacher Victoria Hall confirmed \u2018the school will be open as usual\u2019 today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Julie Paltrow, 55, who lives on Thornbridge Road, said: \u201cAt first I wondered what was happening because there were a lot of cars and I could see parents were distressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI found it shocking because all of my children have gone to that school and there has never been anything like that before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
