{"id":52168,"date":"2024-05-07T13:55:15","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T13:55:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/?p=52168"},"modified":"2024-05-07T13:55:15","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T13:55:15","slug":"property-developer-finally-gets-go-ahead-after-angry-neighbours-fought-against-it-for-two-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/05\/07\/property-developer-finally-gets-go-ahead-after-angry-neighbours-fought-against-it-for-two-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Property developer finally gets \u2018go ahead\u2019 after angry neighbours fought against it for two years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A property developer has said it is \u201cmore relief than joy\u201d after a two year battle against residents for his ambitious housing development was passed by Sheffield City Council.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents living nearby the proposed site on Brooklands Avenue have expressed their concerns with noise, access, and loss of biodiversity if the properties were built.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the council voted on the application for the four houses at a meeting on Tuesday and the result was positive for the developer, James Hinchliffe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Hinchliffe said: \u201cOne of the houses we want to live in. So we want to be their neighbours and we\u2019ve tried to get along.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the consultation process there were 42 objections to the proposal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cllr Sue Alston represented the upset residents at the council meeting where the decision was made and urged the committee to refuse the application.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The original planning application was for five dwellings, however this has since been reduced to four, with the addition of a study or playroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/house-2-1024x576.png\" alt=\"An artistic impression image of two large houses and an adjacent garage, with greenery in the foreground. \" class=\"wp-image-52171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/house-2-980x551.png 980w, https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/house-2-480x270.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Image: CODA Bespoke <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cllr Sue Alston raised the issue that a bed could be added to the supposed study or playroom, taking the property back to a five bedroom house.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also said: \u201cHouseholds with large houses of this type will often have at least two, if not three, cars.
