The North East Local Community Plan has updated its budget report and revealed its main aims for the local area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 3 main areas the North East wants to focus on are the Environment, Community Safety & Crime, and the Cost of Living. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It should be no surprise that the environment is one of highest funded sector for the Community Plan considering Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in Europe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Environment received a funding of \u00a38,107 with most of the budget being spent on supporting the Environmental Stewardship Programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This programme aims which gives young people who are not in employment or education the chance to learn valuable skills and confidence in environmental maintenance such as repairing fences or painting out graffiti. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the participants apart of the programme said: \u201cI have really enjoyed working outdoors and seeing a really positive change in my local community from the work we have been doing\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For Community Safety & Crime, the People Keeping Safe Project received \u00a35,223 to help their project progress. They used the funds to start installing MOCAM\u2019s which are Re-deployable CCTV that incorporate features such as fire detection and thermal imaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently safety has been a concern for many local residents of the North East of Sheffield, so with the introductio of more sophisticated CCTV will definitely ease people\u2019s nerves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council have said they want to create, \u201cGreat neighbourhoods that people are happy to call home\u201d and \u201cengaged communities that value diversity and support their wellbeing\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, the Cost of Living priority showed its effect on the local area as \u00a33,578 was spent on tackling local residents\u2019 issues. Around \u00a3228 was spent on Family Advice Sessions to help local residents struggling to recover from the Cost of Living. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Sheffield City Council says these budgeting decisions contribute to the outcomes in \u2018Together we get things done\u2019, which is the main long-term plan for the city from 2024 to 2028. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
