Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough constituency has been named in the top ten most \u2018left behind\u2019 areas in England according to a recent report. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A report published last week by the Independent Commission on Neighbourhoods (ICON) named the North Sheffield constituency as number ten of England\u2019s most \u2018left behind\u2019 constituencies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the report, 76.9% of its population are living in areas that are critically in need of neighbourhood investment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report analysed publicly available data on crime, health, energy, jobs and education achievement to create an index to score against the government’s 5 missions which form the foundation of its policy agenda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Blackpool topped the list with 97.8% and eight of the ten constituencies named are in the Midlands or the North of the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report comes after the announcement last week by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner of a \u00a31.5 billion national spending package under the government’s new neighbourhood plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
ICON has asked the government to \u2018prioritise investment in the most at need neighbourhoods or risk losing voter support\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
