{"id":54177,"date":"2025-03-14T15:35:28","date_gmt":"2025-03-14T15:35:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/?p=54177"},"modified":"2025-03-14T15:35:29","modified_gmt":"2025-03-14T15:35:29","slug":"heated-debate-in-sheffield-council-budget-meeting-over-tram-vision-proposal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/03\/14\/heated-debate-in-sheffield-council-budget-meeting-over-tram-vision-proposal\/","title":{"rendered":"Heated debate in Sheffield Council budget meeting over Tram vision proposal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Jack Carter\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plans to expand the Sheffield tram network led to a fiery debate last week in the council budget meeting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tram Vision, a plan to consult on the extension of Tram Train routes from Sheffield into Stocksbridge and Chesterfield&nbsp; caused a division in the Sheffield City Council budget meeting between Liberal Democrat and Labour councillors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lib Dem Councillor Mike Levery took issue with Sheffield City Council\u2019s budget overspending<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis year we\u2019ve achieved 93% of our target savings of 43 million, and despite that we are still overspent by 35 million\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cllr.
