{"id":54600,"date":"2025-03-20T16:07:08","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T16:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/?p=54600"},"modified":"2025-03-20T16:07:09","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T16:07:09","slug":"mother-and-daughter-to-run-sheffield-half-marathon-to-raise-money-for-cancer-research-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/03\/20\/mother-and-daughter-to-run-sheffield-half-marathon-to-raise-money-for-cancer-research-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"Mother and daughter to run Sheffield Half Marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mother and her daughter duo will run the Sheffield Half Marathon this Sunday to raise money for Cancer Research UK in aid of their much loved family member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Helen Pryde, alongside her daughter, decided to run the marathon to support her husband after he was diagnosed with lung cancer in June 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ms Pryde, 51, said: \u201cThis organisation is so important to us and many other families, the feeling of completing this is going to be so rewarding.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She described the past couple of years as being some of the \u2018toughest times of my life\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said: \u201cI am so proud of my daughter for deciding to tackle this with me, she is my superstar and has been so strong during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ms Pryde also ran the Sheffield Half Marathon last year, saying the feeling of crossing the finish line was \u2018thrilling\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said she plans on participating in the marathon again next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The race will start at 9.30 this Sunday, with thousands of people across the country coming to take part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The majority of participants will complete the 13 mile race in 2-3 hours, with some of the quickest completing it in just over an hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is run in the memory of Jane Tomlinson and her legacy organisation \u2018Run for All\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image0-1-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"The participants will set off down Furnival Gate to kick off the half marathon.\" class=\"wp-image-54603\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image0-1-980x735.jpeg 980w, https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image0-1-480x360.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The half marathon will start with participants setting off down Furnival Gate and onto Ecclesall Road.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The start line will take place at Arundel Gate in Sheffield\u2019s city centre, following down onto Furnival Gate and Ecclesall Road, and finishing back at the start point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There will also be multiple road closures, including Arundel Gate, Norfolk Street, Surrey Street and Charles Street between 4am-4pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For any further information on the marathon, please visit the organisations website at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.runforall.com\/events\/half-marathon\/sheffield-half-marathon\/\">https:\/\/www.runforall.com\/events\/half-marathon\/sheffield-half-marathon\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A mother and her daughter duo will run the Sheffield Half Marathon this Sunday to raise money for Cancer Research UK in aid of their much loved family member.
