{"id":54697,"date":"2025-03-21T11:51:37","date_gmt":"2025-03-21T11:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/?p=54697"},"modified":"2025-03-21T11:51:40","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T11:51:40","slug":"sheffield-chosen-as-one-of-the-best-places-to-live-in-the-north","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/03\/21\/sheffield-chosen-as-one-of-the-best-places-to-live-in-the-north\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield chosen as one of the best places to live in the North"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sheffield has been named by the Sunday Times as one of the best places to live in the North in the publication&#8217;s annual guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Ilkley &#8211; also the winner in 2022 &#8211; was named as top place in the North, Sheffield\u2019s inclusion comes as the city undergoes cultural and economic developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The guide states: \u201cA combination of burgeoning creative industries and judicious regeneration is relighting Sheffield\u2019s fire, bringing a wave of cinnamon buns, sourdough and single-origin coffee in its wake.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It adds: \u201cSheffield has the best state schools in Yorkshire, 80 public parks, and the Peak District on its doorstep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd despite the best efforts of some, it still has more trees per head of population than any other city in Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/IMG_1098-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-54756\" style=\"width:555px;height:auto\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Student Izzy Reed loves Sheffield&#8217;s green spaces<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheffield&#8217;s 80 public parks were one of the reasons for its place on the Times&#8217; guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Izzy Reed, a student in the city, said: &#8220;I love living and working in Sheffield. I love the green spaces it has to offer and Weston Park is my favourite place to go when its sunny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I work on Ecclesall Road which is great. Many areas of Sheffield have seen an increase in their number of independent shops and cafes, which has been recognised in the guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other Yorkshire locations such as Easingwold, Horsforth, Hebden Bridge and Ripon also featured on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When making its assessments, the guide looks at factors like transport links, schools, cultural offerings, broadband speeds and community initiatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sheffield has been named by the Sunday Times as one of the best places to live in the North in the publication&#8217;s annual guide.
