Residents and motorists are calling for immediate action after a 28-day pledge<\/a> to repair a damaged road was not met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amey, the company responsible for upkeeping Sheffield’s roads, assured that Greystones Road would be mended within 28 days of when the problem with cracked tarmac and potholes was reported in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regular dog walker at the nearby Bingham Park Rebecca Louis, 35, said: “It’s an issue that I see affecting drivers everyday. Cyclists especially struggle to avoid the holes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Amey needs to make the repairs quickly now.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Divots and cracks can be seen afflicting a large proportion of Greystones and fractured tarmac is scattered across flowerbeds that line the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another dog walker Philip Green (62) said: “The potholes are a hazard. I see cars attempting to dodge them everyday and the road looks dreadful.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheffield resident Graham Hughes (41) said: “The damage is awful, we shouldn’t have to drive over it and worry about our cars.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coun Barbara Masters, who represents the Ecclesall ward, said: \u201cThe road still hasn\u2019t been repaired despite the \u201928 days\u2019 being greatly exceeded but warning signs were placed either end of the ruts to alert drivers to a \u2018bumpy road\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNeedless to say the ruts have worsened. Last week I asked for a schedule for a whole raft of repairs that need doing in the area though I have not yet had a response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am hoping this section has a date for repairs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greystones Road is notorious for having been neglected by Sheffield City Council and many decaying parts of the road have been identified before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An anonymous FixMyStreet<\/a> report to Sheffield City Council in 2023 highlighted “deep grooved potholes” and “large amounts of loose tarmac” around The Greystones pub, further up the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
