Forbidden Planet has opened a new store in Sheffield’s busiest shopping area, The Moor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 5,000-square-foot store has two floors and sells a variety of comics, collectible graphic novels, and other merchandise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Forbidden Planet’s official social media account, a post was made to let people know that today, to celebrate the opening, Forbidden Planet will be opening with many treats for their customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0The first 100 customers received a goody bag, while people who cosplayed received 10% off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Forbidden Planet is participating in Comic Book Day by offering free copies of six selected comic titles for various age groups so that everyone can leave with a physical memory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Costumed characters such as Spider-Man and Deadpool greeted customers and were there with the manager, Dan King, to cut the ribbon.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Toby William, a customer, spoke about his experience and described it as \u201ccertainly busy, but there was a lot of new items, and it was much bigger than the last place\u201d. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added: \u201cSheffield needed something like this so that there are more exciting things in the city centre.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Forbidden Planet was on Matilda Street for 36 years. Now that it has been relocated, it will be much bigger and have two floors. The new location aims to create a more immersive shopping experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
An employee who asked not to be named said: \u201cWe have been working hard behind the scenes, and I’m just excited for everyone to come and see this place and start building more of a community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHaving the shop here, hopefully, should bring some creativity and connection within the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A large cue of customers was there to welcome the opening of the new store with customers of various ages. Some also came dressed up to take advantage of the offer.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Poppy Neller, a street vendor, said: \u201cThis can also help local businesses because it will bring more people here to the centre.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Staff said there will be plans to host events, art signings, and themed days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
