Police are appealing to the public for information after reports of voyeurism in Weston Park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred at 4.20pm on Friday 2 May, with it being reported that two women were the victims of the act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is reported that a man attempted to record the women under their clothing without their consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers are investigating and police have now released a CCTV image of a man, as seen above, who is believed can help with their enquiries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, statistics showed there were 83 cases of flashers investigated in Sheffield. They also showed 23 reports of voyeurism in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The figures were obtained through a Freedom of Information request to South Yorkshire Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Park users told Shef Live they would feel safer if better lighting and more CCTV cameras were in place at parks across the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ellie Green, 28, who visits Weston Park regularly, said: “Personally, I have never had any bad experiences but my friend was made to feel extremely uncomfortable in Endcliffe Park in what was quite an intimidating scenario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I would feel safer if there was more CCTV implemented around the parks and more awareness was raised about incidents like this occurring.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Amelie Rhianna, 20, commented on how she’d feel safer and said: “Weston Park could do with better lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Once, I felt worried enough to use my phone flashlight even though I was with a friend at the time.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Weston Park is a popular place for university students to visit<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Crown Prosecution Service states that “upskirting” is a colloquial term referring to the action of placing equipment such as a camera or mobile phone beneath a person’s clothing to take a voyeuristic photograph without their permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Offences can be triable either way and be subject to a two-year maximum prison sentence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
