Three deliberate car fires in Northern Sheffield have been reported which occurred over the space of just three days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Sunday 15 February, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said that firefighters from Parkway station attended a deliberate vehicle fire at 3:47am on Algar Drive, Sheffield and the crew left the scene at 4:30am. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later in the day, another car was deliberately set on fire at 8:16pm on Longley Hall Rise, Sheffield. Firefighters from Elm Lane station attended the incident and left the scene at 8:37pm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A South Yorkshire Police statement said: \u201cAt 8.27pm on Sunday (15 January) the Fire Service made us aware of a vehicle fire on Longley Hall Rise, Sheffield. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have made no arrests in connection with either fire. Enquiries are ongoing and we are not in a position to speculate on the circumstances surrounding the fires.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anyone with information should contact the police on 101 or online, quoting incident 817 of 15 February 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two days later, on Tuesday 17 February, firefighters from Central station attended a deliberate car fire at 12:11am on Overend Road, Sheffield. The crew left the scene at 12:57am. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Plumpot, as of January 2026, criminal damage and arson crime made up 8.0% of all crimes reported in the Sheffield postcode area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The car fires follow a trend of similar incidents over recent weeks in the north of the city, as on Tuesday 20 January shortly after 2.25 am it was reported two men approached a home in Tithe Barne Close and set fire to its front porch before fleeing the scene, South Yorkshire Police said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, but an investigation is ongoing and police released CCTV footage of two men believed to be in their 20s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These incidents have sparked concern however local councillors have addressed residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Labour Coun Jayne Dunn, who represents Southey Ward, said: \u201cTo reassure (residents) I work closely with the police and I have requested an update on what we are doing to support South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue in order to ensure the safety of our residents.\u201d
