A rare, signed print celebrating the legacy of Sheffield’s iconic music venue, The Leadmill, is being raffled to raise funds for a library renovation at Hunters Bar Infant School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fundraiser organiser school assistant Marie-Claire Anderton, 45, started the project eight weeks ago after appealing to the Sheffield community for raffle prize donations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local artist, Greg Harris, responded by offering a print inspired by The Leadmill, which quickly stood out as a potential star prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Anderton said: “The vision for the library is a more integrated resource that can be used for all aspects of the curriculum, with soft seating and can act as a calming environment.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annie-Rose Allen, Deputy Head of Hunter’s Bar Infant School said: “A dedicated library would give our students more than shelves of books. It would give them a space to imagine, explore and discover. Moving from a library corridor to a real library would signal that reading isn’t just something we pass by, but something we value at the heart of our school.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project initially started as an auction, however Mrs Anderton decided a raffle would give more people the chance to win such a valuable item. After news of the plans for the fundraiser reached Greg Harris, he was said to be ‘over the moon’. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Anderton said she struggled with who to contact and where to find these artists. However, the first contact of the fundraiser was an ex-teacher of the infant school, Sarah Banks, wife to Pulp drummer, Nick Banks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said: “To be able to know I got Pulp, was a big pull, to be able to say I got somebody was just amazing.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, the project has thrived with signatures from Brit-pop artists and past Leadmill performers such as Richard Hawley, The Human League, Fatboy Slim, Reverend and the Makers and Joe Carnall Jnr. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Added to the reputable list, more signatures are still expected from artists including Pulp, Mel C (also known as Sporty spice), Tom Grennan and Self Esteem, reaching a further appeal to music fans across the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added: “With over 40 years of history and with the amount of artists who have started their career there, it’s brilliant!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The print will be framed and will come with an album of pictures of the artists signing the print which will be delivered free of charge to the lucky winner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Anderton and her team of the Hunters Bar Infant School Home & School Association have currently raised \u00a3430, still hoping to reach their goal of \u00a32,000 by the closing date of the raffle Monday 6th July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
