{"id":58282,"date":"2026-03-04T13:10:33","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T13:10:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/?p=58282"},"modified":"2026-03-04T13:25:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T13:25:12","slug":"hopes-dialled-up-in-sheffield-as-the-leadmill-fundraises-for-relocation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/03\/04\/hopes-dialled-up-in-sheffield-as-the-leadmill-fundraises-for-relocation\/","title":{"rendered":"Hopes dialled up in Sheffield as The Leadmill fundraises for relocation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sheffield\u2019s longest-running late-night venue, The Leadmill, has set a fundraising target of \u00a330,00 to help them find a new home following their 2025 eviction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A staple of the Sheffield music scene since 1980, The Leadmill is famous for hosting some of the most iconic names in music, including Coldplay, Tame Impala, and the Arctic Monkeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On The Leadmill website, Mike Cross, promoter, said: \u201cIf The Leadmill has ever meant something to you, a first gig, a favourite night out, a moment you\u2019ll never forget, we\u2019d love you to be part of building its future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhether you\u2019re able to donate, share the campaign, or simply send support we really appreciate the help and will not forget it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following an eviction dispute with its landlords, Electric Group, in 2022, The Leadmill hosted a sold-out \u201cFinal Friday Night Bash\u201d in June 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, despite the popular venue being revitalised in Foundry\u2019s Leadmill Fridays, Evelyn Paton, 19, said that some have felt the music is \u201chit or miss.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deborah Adio, 20, a student, said: \u201c[The Leadmill] wasn\u2019t for everyone, but it was definitely a staple night out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Adio added that it would be good to have more venues across Sheffield hosting smaller bands and gigs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reactions to the potential re-opening have been largely positive on social media too, with many users expressing their support for the iconic live music venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mia Jaskiewicz, 21, a student, said: \u201cI think it was a very important place for students and many people\u2019s favourite club.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Crowdfunder, a donator, David Ockwell, said: \u201cGood luck with the relocation. Seen a number of great bands in the past. Look forward to the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, concerns have been raised about how the move to a new venue may affect The Leadmill\u2019s reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wiktoria Dusik, 18, a student, questioned whether opening in a new location will change the atmosphere of the events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite their eviction, The Leadmill has continued to promote independent artists at other well-known independent venues, hosting almost 150 events across the city.
