{"id":58677,"date":"2026-03-09T16:10:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T16:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/?p=58677"},"modified":"2026-03-09T16:10:23","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T16:10:23","slug":"social-media-sensation-dj-ag-showcases-new-and-old-sheffield-talent-to-thousands-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/03\/09\/social-media-sensation-dj-ag-showcases-new-and-old-sheffield-talent-to-thousands-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Social media sensation DJ AG showcases new and old Sheffield talent to thousands online"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Some of Sheffield&#8217;s most renowned talent was showcased by social media sensation DJ AG in a four-hour livestream from the city centre on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event, held outside&nbsp;Sheffield Town Hall, saw hundreds of people stop to watch the DJ\u2019s set while thousands more tuned in through his livestream on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DJ AG was last in Sheffield city centre with Ed Sheeran in May and is known for taking his DJ booth to public spaces and inviting artists to perform spontaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Sheffield always shows love when we do things like this&#8221; DJ AG told the crowd during the set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His street performances have become known for their unpredictable guest appearances and for drawing major crowds online, previous events have seen surprise cameos from artists including&nbsp;Ed Sheeran&nbsp;and&nbsp;JME, leading some fans to speculate whether another high-profile guest might appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cIt\u2019s about bringing music straight to the streets and giving local artists a platform.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"468\" src=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-10.png\" alt=\"Steve Edwards singing alongside DJ AG in sheffield city centre \" class=\"wp-image-58724\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-10.png 768w, https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-10-480x293.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 768px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">DJ AG with vocalist Steve Edwards &#8211; photographer: Errol Edwards <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Singer&nbsp;Steve Edwards&nbsp;also made an appearance, performing his well-known dance track&nbsp;World, Hold On, adding an extra verse during the performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Edwards said: \u201cIt\u2019s amazing seeing people of all ages stopping and singing along<strong>,<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said after performing: \u201cMoments like this remind you how powerful live music can be<strong>.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A collective dubbed the Sheffield All Stars featured performers such as&nbsp;Coco,&nbsp;K\u2011Dot,&nbsp;Aziza Jaye&nbsp;and&nbsp;Lavelle. Up-and-coming acts including&nbsp;Milly Pye,&nbsp;The Tivolis and&nbsp;Niamh &amp; The High Fives Band&nbsp;also took to the improvised stage from around 4pm until 8pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several Sheffield musicians joined the DJ throughout the evening, including indie band frontman&nbsp;Jon McClure&nbsp;from&nbsp;Reverend and the Makers, who performed in front of the lively crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McClure said performing in the city centre created a unique atmosphere. \u201cThere\u2019s something special about playing right in the middle of your hometown<strong>,<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cYou\u2019ve got people walking past, joining in, filming it \u2014 it feels really raw and real<strong>.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other guests included members of&nbsp;Junglist Alliance, joined by reggae and jungle MC&nbsp;Top Cat, bringing a burst of drum-and-bass energy to the set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-11.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-58729\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-11.png 768w, https:\/\/shef-live.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-11-480x320.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 768px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Crowds in the city centre &#8211; photographer: Errol Edwards <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For many attendees, the event was less about celebrity appearances and more about celebrating Sheffield\u2019s diverse music culture in the heart of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local spectator Hannah Clarke, 23, said: \u201cI was just walking through town and suddenly there was this huge crowd and music everywhere<strong>,\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said: \u201cIt\u2019s great to see local artists getting this kind of spotlight<strong>.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Friday\u2019s event focused mainly on Sheffield\u2019s local scene, the atmosphere remained lively as passers-by stopped to watch, dance and film the performances. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some of Sheffield&#8217;s most renowned talent was showcased by social media sensation DJ AG in a four-hour livestream from the city centre on Friday.
