Elliot described Conduit Road as “enough to strike fear into the hearts of every Crooks dweller.”

This challenge was part of a wider fundraising effort for the charity in which he aims to raise £2,400. Prior to his Conduit challenge, Elliot completed a sponsored climb of the equivalent height of Kinder Scout.

Elliot has revealed that for his next wacky adventure he’s aiming to complete Endcliffe parkrun, a community 5k run, in flippers. Elliot said: “If anything flippers attract attention and publicity”. However, the physical practicalities of this challenge appear to reflect those of his previous fundraising ideas.

Despite regularly attending parkruns, this will be a particularly impractical 5k and Elliot spoke of having to train high knees to avoid injury.

Referring to his extreme challenges, Elliot said: “Part of the joy of challenges like these is that you never know what’s going to happen, or who you’re going to be on the other side of it”.

Elliot grew up in south Wales and believes that his family’s location meant his passion for the outdoors and keeping active could thrive. Like many students in Sheffield, the city’s close proximity to The Peak District was a highly influential factor for him when choosing a university.

At the end of his fundraising efforts, Elliots aim is to embark on an expedition to Kyrgyzstan with the British Exploring Society. Elliot described the opportunity as “an experience like DofE but on drugs”.

The British Exploring Society is a charity reliant on the donations and fundraising of individuals and organisations. They aim to help young people build skills, resilience, and confidence through outdoor learning so they can make positive choices and contribute to their communities.

Other fundraising ideas done for the British Exploring Society include Mckenna Parkinson collecting 500 bags of litter, as shown on her GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/pick-up-500-bags-of-litter

Elliot’s GoFundMe for future fundraising updates and donations can be found here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/shipping-elliot-off-fund

Elliott Mawhinney spent 16 hours walking up and down one of Sheffield’s steepest roads.

[191,7,5
73,1181,74,12
post-59131","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-charity","category-culture","category-news","tag-charity","tag-crooks","tag-fundraiser","tag-sheffield
["GET
