Sheffield Wednesday are back to square one in their efforts to find new ownership after the collapse of the latest takeover attempt by James Bord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Administrators Begbies Traynor are now seeking to alternate buyers after the consortium led by businessman James Bord withdrew its offer to purchase the club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, the Bord Group said: \u201cThe figure we offered is significantly higher than that justified by the findings of a lengthy due diligence process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The withdrawal came during an already excruciatingly painful week for Wednesday supporters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just days earlier, the club suffered relegation to League One following defeat to fierce local rivals Sheffield United, intensifying the frustrations of the fans who have endured months of off-field turmoil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Manager Henrik Pedersen acknowledged the uncertainty but stressed the need for progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to the BBC, he said: \u201cI only know the administrator should have a plan B for how we can come quick to the next step, so I look forward to further progress.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With no confirmed buyer currently in place, Begbies Traynor will now look to identify the best possible solution from the club. Reports from John Percy (Telegraph) suggest that former Newcastle United and Sports Direct owner Mike Ashely is set to make a bid for the club in the next 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among supporters, calls for stability are becoming ever-present, \u2018Owls\u2019 fan Simon, 51, said he believes that experience is key for the new owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said: \u201cIf Ashley is the one, at least it would be someone with money and experience running a football club. After everything we\u2019ve been through, we just want our club back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
John, a lifelong Wednesday fan, said he hopes any future owner will bring long-term security rather than short-term investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
H said: \u201cWe want the best owners who offer us stability. Cryptocurrency and gambling firms are the complete opposite of this\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wednesday fan, Ruby, 20, suggested the fanbase is desperate for a fresh start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said: \u201cWe just want stability. We know this season we are going down, but we want to be prepared for next season with an owner who cares and is willing to help our club get back to where it belongs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the turmoil, supporters continue to stand by the team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
