The event aimed\u00a0to raise awareness and vital funding for the women and children of Gaza.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the proceeds&nbsp;will go to&nbsp;Forgotten Women&#8217;s Kitchen Project,&nbsp;a charity run by women for women that provides clean water, formula, hygiene kits and up to 1,000 hot meals in Gaza every single day.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sham Hussain, an attendee of the event, said: \u201cThe Palestinian cause has been close to many people\u2019s hearts, we are Muslim so not only is it important to support this&nbsp;cause,&nbsp;but we feel we are obliged to.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With&nbsp;Amnesty International, a global rights group, having&nbsp;stated&nbsp;that Palestinian women in the Gaza Strip have been \u201cdenied the conditions needed to live and to give life safely\u201d by Israel,&nbsp;it is clear that aid&nbsp;for Gazan women and children is vital.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Hussain said: \u201cWhenever there are atrocities in the world, whenever there&#8217;s an environment of oppressive regimes, women and children are the most likely to suffer.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Hussain and her daughter Serina Hussain are both members of the Palestinian solidarity group in Sheffield,&nbsp;having attended three of the national marches since September.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Serina said: \u201cNot many&nbsp;kids are&nbsp;actually educated&nbsp;about&nbsp;what&#8217;s&nbsp;going on in the world.&nbsp;It&#8217;s&nbsp;very important&nbsp;to look outside the UK.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was organised by Salman Malik, an activist and stand-up comedian&nbsp;who has run events across the country for Forgotten Women.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the event raising up to \u00a315,000, Mr Malik said:&nbsp;\u201cA lot of these people were fundraising during the month of Ramadanwhich is also a month of charity and reflection for us.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cit&#8217;s great timing and I&#8217;m looking forward to being back here in the summer.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forgotten Women&nbsp;currently has&nbsp;two appeals for Gaza, \u2018Gaza: 1000 Meals a Day\u2019 and \u2018Gaza: Under the Rubble\u2019.
